before i moved to this neighbourhood almost 2 years ago, i lived not far from here and took a different bus to work. some mornings i would see Katya, her husband (i guess) and her lovely 7 year old daughter on the bus.
Katya is european, soft spoken and looked a bit pale sometimes. when i first saw them, i could see how close they are as a family. the husband is good looking, ruffled 'mousey' hair, in a sharp suit, their daughter looks so prim & proper in her school uniform.
then one day, after not seeing them for a while, i saw katya with her family and an elderly woman, could be her mom as they look alike. katya was wearing a head scarf and she looked ill and very pale. then it struck me that she could have been suffering from the big C and the scarf was to hide her thinning hair. that made me so sad.. i hope she's well and survived the ordeal.

Sam & Amy
i've seen Sam & Amy a couple of times in the past; usually if i take the 8.30am bus. they live in the same neighbourhood but few stops away from one another. this morning i saw Sam and thot that Amy would board the bus later but there was no sign of her.
Sam looks like the pic below, except that Sam is a girl.. and Amy looks like a normal & sweet 16 or 17 y.o.

the interesting bit about them that caught my eyes and worth writing is..they are lovers; maybe forbidden, maybe not. it didnt occur to me at first until i saw the signs of intimacy - holding hands, the eye contact and all those things.. Amy gets off the bus first and they would kiss goodbye - not just a peck on the cheek or a hug like normal girls would do but kiss on the lips??!! i dont know if i was the only person who noticed this and find it a bit awkward (due to my conservative and yet open mindedness) ; but i reckon few other commuters share the same thot with me..

one up the bum
this morning i took the 8.30am bus, no interesting character seen or conversation heard. so i picked up the free Metro paper from the next seat and this was the headline..
"Musical safe sex video advises 'one up the bum and you won't be a mum' "
Marie Stopes international, a non profit organisation which provides sexual and reproductive healthcare services, teamed up with comedy music band The Midnight Beast – brandishing blow-up dolls and condoms – for an online safe sex campaign. While the song’s lyrics encourage using condoms, it also includes the line: ‘One up the bum and it’s no harm done, one up the bum and you won’t be a mum.’
the video is available on youtube.
some people may find the article/video hilarious but i'm disgusted. what a way for a charity organisation to spend valuable resources (money) which is hard to come by in this current economy situation.

scantily clad
this post is indirectly related to the previous one.. but its not from my observation on the bus.
last week, i had an interesting chat with my friend Tony. he's in his early 30s, good looking and teaches at uni.
i told Tony that sometimes i dont know where to look, when i see girls who are 'top heavy' wearing low cut Ts or 'bottom heavy' wearing slouch jeans sitting opposite me. this is the case of "if you have it, flaunt it". then he told me about the story of the girl in the short skirt..
he was walking up the stairs to the classroom and there was this lanky girl walking 2 steps ahead of him. she was wearing a short dress. as she was walking up, he could clearly see her floral knickers.. he didnt know where to look, if he had looked down, he could have bumped into other people coming from the opposite direction..any other guy wouldnt complain in that situation.
what do these girls think they are wearing to classes?

pink flowers
day/date : monday 7th feb
time : 12.30pm
weather : sunny, breezy, around 10 deg C
whoopy is in her mid 20s, standing 5 ft 2 in tall, short hair, dark skin.
i saw her the first time last friday nite when i was coming home from work. she was on the phone with a woman, possibly her sister or friend. she was going on and on about this jacket that she bought from Primark. its a bit too big for her and kept saying that she needs to take it back to the store.
this afternoon, she sat behind me, she wasnt on the phone. when she walked past me to board off the bus, i saw what she was wearing - one of those slouch type jeans (which i used to call 'britney spears jeans'); the waist goes half way down her bums and i could see her pink floral knickers..(not a good sight though).

eavesdropper bus hopper
i'm a great supporter of public transport, i take the bus to and from work almost everyday for the past 5 years. if i have to travel out of town for work, i take the train. its not that i dont know how to drive. i was a good driver; those days there was no sat nav but i knew most roads at my fingertips. some friends said i can be a taxi driver when i retire. now i dont drive because i dont have a licence and i refuse to sit for the driving test. if i have to go out during the weekend, then i have my significant other who's ever so willing to drive me around. if anything happens to my significant other in the middle of the nite and needs medical attention, i will call 999 for help.
i live in the suburb on the outskirt of nottsville, its 3 miles away from work. the bus ride takes roughly 20 minutes each way depending on what time i leave home/work and the traffic. on a bad day, the journey may take 30 minutes. when i'm on the bus, i can't simply shut myself in my own world and become deaf and blind to the surrounding.
during the 20 or 30 minutes journey, i get to see fellow commuters of various age groups, ethnic, social and religious background. sometimes i see the same people day in day out. i overhear lots of interesting conversations too - people talking on the mobile phones with their friends/families, or talking to the people sitting next to them - could be their friends, family members or complete strangers. yeah i'm a self confessed eavesdropper and people watcher.
this blog was created to share with you what i see and hear during my daily bus rides, occassional train rides and daily wanderings with my family. the names and places in this blog has been changed to protect the identities of the victims of circumstances whereby i shall name them as my imagination describes their characters best.
some of the posts can be a bit distasteful, revolting and offensive and may not suit everybody's palette but as the famous "Lauren Cooper" said - "am i bovvered??"
