before i moved to this neighbourhood almost 2 years ago, i lived not far from here and took a different bus to work. some mornings i would see Katya, her husband (i guess) and her lovely 7 year old daughter on the bus.
Katya is european, soft spoken and looked a bit pale sometimes. when i first saw them, i could see how close they are as a family. the husband is good looking, ruffled 'mousey' hair, in a sharp suit, their daughter looks so prim & proper in her school uniform.
then one day, after not seeing them for a while, i saw katya with her family and an elderly woman, could be her mom as they look alike. katya was wearing a head scarf and she looked ill and very pale. then it struck me that she could have been suffering from the big C and the scarf was to hide her thinning hair. that made me so sad.. i hope she's well and survived the ordeal.
